Have a question? We got answers!

General

  • Yume is a purchasing platform that allows food manufacturers to connect their quality surplus products to the Yume network of buyers (discount retailers, wholesalers, industrial caterers, producers, community groups, exporters) to purchase at a discounted price. If food isn’t sold, manufacturers can donate to their preferred food rescue organisation, with the click of a button. This means that large amounts of quality food isn’t going to waste, instead re-purposed, sold, eaten and enjoyed around Australia.

  • Yes, we have buyers and suppliers in all states.

  • We have an ongoing relationship with food rescue organisations in Australia. Food rescue organisations use Yume technology to accept available donations from their existing supplier partners and other manufacturers in need of donation pathways. We work alongside these organisations to streamline donation processes, so more food can get to people in need, fresh and fast.

  • There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to excess inventory. To get you started with either a Yume subscription or service fee for using our technology, we need to learn more about your business requirements.

Products on Yume

  • Surplus stock is any kind of stock that sellers cannot sell through their usual channels. For example, you may have over-ordered stock based on previous forecasts, your customers might have cancelled large consignments, stock might be close to code, or there might be a packaging misprint. We require all sellers to disclose the reason for stock being considered surplus when listing on the platform.

  • Unless you can provide an extension letter, we can not list products past their use-by date.

  • It's great that you would like to sell clearance & excess food on Yume. Get started with a Yume supplier application via our Sell page.

  • All products are anonymously listed under a 'white-labelled supplier' which ensures that you as the supplier won't be disclosed at any point in the transaction. The brand of the product can be published if you wish to do so.

  • You can list your product with restrictions on the platform e.g. not to be sold into retail. We will ensure that the product only goes to appropriate buyers.

  • Yes. We work with medium to large businesses. We are committed to seeing as many pallets of excess food find new homes as possible!

  • Details of your product can only be viewed by the Yume buyer network.

  • Yume’s recommended offer algorithm consolidates the best offers on your products so you can make a quick and informed decision on which offers you would like to accept.

Payment

  • A purchase order will be emailed to you that contains all order and delivery details. Once the stock is delivered to the buyer, you will need to email us your sales invoice and proof of delivery (POD), then payment will be processed according to our terms.

  • Our standard payment terms are 30 days from the date of invoice. Please remember to include proof of delivery when sending through your invoice, to avoid any delay in processing the payment.

  • Should the purchased product not arrive as described, the buyer has 24 hours to report the issue. The Yume team will contact you and a replacement or refund will have to be organised as appropriate.

Delivery

  • Unless you have noted your products as collection only, shipping is your responsibility. The delivery details of the buyer will be collected by Yume technology, and sent to you in a purchase order.

  • Each seller is responsible for organising delivery, and communicating the areas and costs with us. At a minimum, we require the costs to ship to metro major cities (Melb, Syd, Bris and Perth).

  • We don't expect you to have your own fleet, however you will need to liaise with your third party logistics provider to communicate with us the freight costs, so we can let our buyers know.

Getting started

  • To get you started, we’ll need to learn more about the food you produce and your business requirements. Complete the 2 minute application form via our Sell page or contact us.

  • Don't worry, we understand sometimes you just need to talk to someone! You can call our team on 1300 YUME FOOD Mon to Fri 9-5pm.
