Yume is a purchasing platform that allows food manufacturers to connect their quality surplus products to the Yume network of buyers (discount retailers, wholesalers, industrial caterers, producers, community groups, exporters) to purchase at a discounted price. If food isn’t sold, manufacturers can donate to their preferred food rescue organisation, with the click of a button. This means that large amounts of quality food isn’t going to waste, instead re-purposed, sold, eaten and enjoyed around Australia.

We have an ongoing relationship with food rescue organisations in Australia. Food rescue organisations use Yume technology to accept available donations from their existing supplier partners and other manufacturers in need of donation pathways. We work alongside these organisations to streamline donation processes, so more food can get to people in need, fresh and fast.

Surplus stock is any kind of stock that the supplier cannot sell through their usual channels. For example, the supplier may have over-ordered stock based on previous forecasts, their customers might cancel large consignments, stock might be close to code, or there might be a packaging misprint. We require all suppliers to disclose the reason their stock is considered surplus when they upload the product to the Yume platform. You can access this information on each product page.

We understand that quality and safety are paramount for any food business. All of our suppliers are HACCP (or equivalent) certified. We can share a copy of our supplier's certifications and insurance at your request before placing an order. Chat to our team to learn more.

Unless given an extension letter from the manufacturer, no product will ever be past its use-by date on Yume.

The quality of the products we sell is one of our biggest priorities. That’s why we only work with premium brands around Australia. Every product has a detailed description of its origin and processing, with specifications and certificates of origin available upon request.

Our platform frequently has the cheapest prices on the market and sometimes the supplier wishes to keep their brand anonymous. The product itself will be branded and have its usual packaging, but the brand won't be published on our platform. If you have any questions around the brand or quality of the product, please contact us.

Yes. Due to the nature of surplus however, we can't always guarantee requested products will become available. The products listed on Yume change daily, so if you have any specific requests, best to let us know so we can contact you when they come our way. Drop us a line at eat@yumefood.com.au with your product requests.

As Yume does not own the stock available on our platform, samples are on a case-by-case basis and fully dependent on the supplier availability.

If your order hasn’t arrive as expected, send us a photo and explanation of the issue within 24 hours of receiving the stock. We’ll work with the supplier to provide you with a solution.

Payment

No, prices displayed on Yume are excluding GST, however not all of our products are taxable. Products will be marked with a 'plus GST' noted below the price should this be applicable.

Once your offer has been successful and freight has been confirmed, we will process an invoice. Payment upfront is required and can be made by credit card or EFT.

Delivery

Once your purchase is confirmed, Yume technology will share your shipping details with the supplier. Please make a note of any specifics for delivery when placing your order, such as, delivery hours, or truck restrictions on site.

Each product listed on Yume is dispatched directly from the seller, so delivery times will vary. Please check delivery windows per product, under ‘Delivery Info’.

It varies product to product. Delivery details will be outlined on the product page. If you can't find your ship to location there, we will confirm the delivery details after you placed an offer. Don't worry the order won't be confirmed until we agree on a delivery cost to your location.

Placing orders & offers

Yume offers two options for purchasing products: Buy Now and Make Offer.
If you choose Buy Now on eligible listings, you can instantly purchase and secure a consignment from the Yume marketplace. Simply add "Buy Now" products to your cart and place your order. This guarantees the stock is reserved for you. You’ll then receive an email order confirmation.
If you choose Make Offer, you can submit your best bid for a consignment. The closer your offer is to the asking price, the better your chances of securing the stock.
When you submit an offer, after the offer window closes (look for the countdown clock!), the supplier will review all bid and select the best one(s). Once they’ve made their decision, you'll receive an email notification.
For successful purchases via Buy Now or Make Offer, you will soon receive an invoice and need to make payment according to the invoice terms. The supplier will then arrange delivery directly to your door.

Sellers can choose which purchasing options they offer - Buy Now, Make Offer or both. Over the first few months of 2025, expect to see a growing number of listings offering both Buy and Make Offer options.

Suppliers have 48 hours after the offer window closes to review bids and confirm the winner. You'll receive an email notification to let you know the outcome.
