Marketing and Communications Intern

Seeking an enthusiastic intern to join a fast paced and exciting environmental start-up! 1-2 days a week with flexible work hours around university schedule.

This is a paid position in a fast-paced, purpose-driven start-up. Recently featured on ABC’s War on Waste, Yume is currently in an exciting period of growth and is seeking an intern to support the marketing team. This role will provide invaluable marketing experience within a startup environment and can be credited towards your university degree.

Your skills and knowledge:

  • Must be studying a marketing/PR/communications degree.
  • Copywriting, proofreading and excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite viewed highly but not necessary.
  • Must have a passion for sustainability and the reduction of waste.
  • A 'can do' attitude!

Your responsibilities

  • Copywriting, content scheduling and planning for social media platforms.
  • Monitoring and reporting on social media results.
  • Supporting the marketing team with the execution of Yume’s #Eliminate98 campaign.
  • Sending email and SMS campaigns to our buyers and suppliers.
  • Creating branded presentations in Microsoft Powerpoint.
  • Formatting reports and other branded documents.
  • Supporting the CEO by organising and preparing content for speaking events.
  • Media monitoring and logging of PR.
  • Answering website chat and office phone.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to support the execution of the overall marketing strategy.
  • General admin and office duties.

Front End Web Developer

We're on the lookout for a highly motivated, engaged, and mission-driven web developer who is geared towards the front end of the stack. Working directly with our CTO to build the user-facing components of our platform, the ideal candidate should have a keen eye for front end, design and UX, and be ready to work within a dynamic, award-winning, female-driven workplace.

As a "Tech For Good" company, our core offering is our platform - you'll be working locally to standardise and improve our UI and UX across the board, as well as developing new and exciting apps and integrations with some of our world-renowned partners.

We use PHP (Laravel) and MySQL to power the platform and its API, and component-based VueJS in the front end.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Strong proven project experience as a front end developer
  • An eye for design and user experience

  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
  • HTML5 cross-browser responsive development

Core Responsibilities:
  • Develop new / improve existing platform UI components
  • Work with the marketing team to roll out beautiful new PR campaigns
  • Document new features and provide tutorials to internal and external users
  • Gather analytics on component usage to help define our product roadmap
  • Work with our worldwide partners in building out external mission-driven platforms, akin to Yume's
